English to Tanglish Translator

Google preferred source

If this tool solved your problem, tell Google it's your preferred source for English to Tanglish translation.

Translate between English and Tanglish (romanized Tamil, the way Tamil speakers actually type — neenga epdi irukkenga means how are you). One tool, three directions: Tanglish → English, English → Tanglish, and Tanglish → Tamil script for the exact spelling. Free, no sign-up, built for Tamil speakers and learners.

How to use

Pick a direction, type, and the translation appears instantly.

  1. 1

    Pick a direction

Tanglish → English to understand a romanized Tamil message, English → Tanglish to reply the way Tamil speakers type, or Tanglish → Tamil script for the exact written form.

  2. 2

    Type your text

Paste or type a sentence in either language. Spoken Tanglish works — informal spellings like epdi, irukkenga, poitten are all understood.

  3. 3

    Copy the result

The translation appears in natural language. Copy it for a chat, caption, or note — no account needed.

What is Tanglish?

Tanglish (also spelled Thanglish) is Tamil written in the Latin alphabet — the romanized way Tamil speakers text, comment and chat: neenga epdi irukkenga for how are you, nalla idea for good idea, office ku poitten for I went to the office. It mixes Tamil grammar with English words, exactly as spoken.

Google Translate is strongest with Tamil script, not the informal romanized spelling people actually type. This tool is built for Tanglish as spoken: it understands code-mixing, common spellings, and everyday phrasing, and can write the answer back in Tanglish too.

The three directions cover the full circle: understand a Tanglish message, reply in the same spoken style, or get the proper Tamil script for anything you want to write or search.

Like every Tamil Creator tool, it is free, needs no sign-up, and is built specifically for Tamil speakers and learners — not a general-purpose translator bolted onto Tamil.

Frequently asked questions

Tanglish is Tamil written in English letters — romanized Tamil as spoken and typed: neenga epdi irukkenga (how are you), naan unga kita pesa venum (I want to talk to you). It often mixes English words into Tamil sentences.
